Yorkshire Children's Charity

Yorkshire Children's Charity, a Leeds-based Charitable Incorporated Organisation established in November 2021, is dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Yorkshire through needs-led support addressing disability, ill health, and financial hardship. Guided by values of inclusivity, equity of opportunity, safeguarding, and high governance standards, it fills gaps in statutory services with a responsive, locally rooted approach, leveraging over 600 volunteers, 11 staff, and three trustees to deliver tangible improvements in wellbeing, education, resilience, and life chances.

The charity funds initiatives advancing education and training, relieving poverty, and providing direct support for children with disabilities or from low-income families, including project grants, capital funding, specialist equipment like wheelchairs, enrichment activities, and adapted school facilities. It supports practical projects, services, and partnerships that enhance inclusion, with examples spanning special needs schools, community groups, health organisations, and individual families, always prioritising high-need, high-impact interventions in urban and rural Yorkshire communities.

Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities and community groups of any size with deep local engagement—no strict income thresholds apply, though smaller frontline organisations are favoured—provided all beneficiaries reside in Yorkshire. Unsolicited applications are welcomed via online forms on a rolling basis, with organisational decisions made throughout the year and individual/family grants (up to £200 per child, higher for equipment) often approved within 24 hours via school referrals. Typical organisational grants range from £1,000 to £25,000.

Distinctively focused solely on Yorkshire's vulnerable children, it avoids duplicating existing provision, excludes non-Yorkshire work or activities not directly benefiting kids, and stands out for its rapid, flexible response to emerging needs, making it ideal for partners demonstrating clear, measurable child impact.
