SLG Charitable Trust Limited, established in 1970 by the Anglican contemplative community Sisters of the Love of God (SLG) at their Convent of the Incarnation in Oxford, exists to advance the Christian religion by sustaining the sisters' contemplative life, prayerful ministry, retreats, hospitality, and the publication of spiritual literature through SLG Press. Governed entirely by professed sisters under the Reverend Mother as chair, its mission embodies a profound commitment to Anglican spirituality, theological education, and nurturing Christian contemplation, with resources from investments, donations, and publishing channeled primarily inward to secure the community's vocation and outreach.

Funding overwhelmingly supports the SLG Community's core activities—convent maintenance, sisters' welfare, retreat provision, spiritual guidance, and disseminating respected Christian texts—benefiting the sisters, retreatants, and global readership. Rare external grants go exclusively to charities advancing closely aligned contemplative Christian priorities, such as religious works directly supporting the trust's ethos.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities with no geographic or income restrictions, but a strict Christian-only focus; however, the trust does not accept unsolicited applications and lacks any open process, guidelines, or deadlines. Decisions are made ad hoc internally by the board through prayerful discernment, with typical external grants under £10,000 and representing a tiny fraction of expenditure.

Distinctively, SLG is not a public grantmaker but a self-sustaining vehicle for one contemplative order, eschewing generalist funding, project grants, or capacity-building for outsiders. Charities should only consider rare alignment opportunities if their work mirrors the sisters' spiritual vocation, as historic patterns show no broader grantmaking.
