Poundland Foundation

The Poundland Foundation, a UK-registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation established in April 2021, channels Poundland's charitable legacy to transform communities and lives for children, young people, and disadvantaged families across the UK. Governed by a board blending Poundland employees and independent trustees, it emphasises inclusivity, tangible impact, and partnerships, balancing national-scale strategic grants with hyper-local community support. Its theory of change focuses on removing barriers to access, resilience, and opportunity, funded through store donations, carrier bags, and micro-gifts, with over £1.5 million awarded in its latest year.

It prioritises health and wellbeing, childhood disability, inclusion, food poverty, family support, and youth sports participation, via multi-year partnerships with national charities like Make-A-Wish UK and Whizz-Kidz; annual Hero Grants for crisis aid; and the Kits 4 Kids programme supplying sports kit and clothing to grassroots children's teams. Beneficiaries span England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, favouring projects fostering long-term wellbeing in deprived areas.

Eligible applicants are UK-based registered charities, CICs, or community groups with annual income under £10,000 and reserves under £5,000; unregistered grassroots sports clubs qualify for Kits 4 Kids, but not schools or profit-making entities. Grants range up to £750 (typically that amount for Kits 4 Kids, restricted to clothing/kit), via online forms during open rounds—no EOI needed, with required safeguarding policies and bank proof. The current Kits 4 Kids round closes 23:59 on 26 May 2025; outcomes emailed weeks later, possibly without feedback. Exclusions include non-UK orgs, non-clothing sports items, and core costs. Distinctively retail-rooted yet independent, it excels for small, community-led family/youth initiatives with clear, measurable change.
