NFTS Foundation

The NFTS Foundation, established in 1997 as a charitable company limited by guarantee in England and Wales, exists solely to raise and manage funds supporting the National Film and Television School (NFTS), a world-leading centre for training in film, television, media, and games. Its mission advances public benefit education by nurturing creative talent, fostering excellence, industry relevance, and diverse voices to bolster Britain's cultural life and UK creative industries' global success. With a distinctive singular focus, it sustains the NFTS through prudent investment, balancing immediate needs with long-term growth, governed by trustees with sector expertise emphasising accountability and impact.

It funds scholarships, bursaries, talent development labs (e.g., Sean Connery Talent Lab), masterclasses, career clinics, technical workshops, facility upgrades, regional outreach via hubs in NFTS Cymru Wales, Glasgow, and Leeds, and strategic programmes enhancing access for financially barred UK-based students, emerging professionals, and alumni. Collaborations with partners like BBC, Channel 4, and ITV enable talent pipelines, curriculum delivery, and sector resilience, prioritising educational programming over one-off projects.

External charities and organisations are ineligible, as the Foundation does not accept unsolicited applications or make grants to unrelated entities; funding is allocated internally to NFTS priorities with no income/size thresholds or geographic restrictions beyond UK focus. Typical amounts include £25,000 production budgets and over £7,000 per participant subsidies for programmes, with no open deadlines—individual NFTS calls (e.g., 1 December 2025 for Sean Connery Lab) target people via the School's portal. It excludes general projects, core costs, or unrestricted support to outsiders, uniquely differentiating as a dedicated sustainer of one institution rather than a broad funder.
