Mental Health Northants Collaboration

Mental Health Northants Collaboration (MHNC), established in 2015 as a registered UK charity, is a partnership of established Northamptonshire-based voluntary sector organisations, including Northamptonshire Mind, Relate Northamptonshire, and Teamwork Trust. Its core mission is to deliver high-quality, accessible mental health and wellbeing support for adults, young people from age 11, families, and carers experiencing emotional distress, through collaborative rather than competitive action. Rooted in values of holistic, person-centred, non-judgmental care, MHNC emphasises relational working, systemic change, and community acceptance, adapting to NHS and Integrated Care System shifts to bridge gaps, prevent crises, and combat health inequalities via pooled resources and co-produced outcomes.

MHNC funds and coordinates a broad spectrum of services, including one-to-one counselling, peer support, advocacy, crisis cafes, wellbeing drop-ins, youth mental health programmes, education groups, and specialised aid for carers, learning disabilities, autism, and suicide risk. All activities prioritise vulnerable groups across Northamptonshire towns like Corby, Kettering, Northampton, and Daventry, focusing on integrated, prevention-oriented provision with user voice at its heart.

Eligible entities are limited to existing MHNC partner organisations—UK-registered charities or local community groups with a proven track record in Northamptonshire; no support for individuals, new entities, or those outside the county. There is no open grant programme, typical amounts, or deadlines; funding flows via rolling statutory contracts (e.g., NHS) and partnership agreements for service delivery, not unsolicited applications.

Distinctively, MHNC operates as a system integrator without transactional grants, enabling efficient collective impact among specialist members, excluding unrestricted or capital funding while uniquely embedding local VCSE providers in health system commissioning for dignified, community-rooted mental health transformation.
