Maudsley Charity

Maudsley Charity, the UK’s largest specialist mental health funder, traces its roots to Bethlem Royal Hospital (1247) and Maudsley Hospital (1923), partnering closely with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and King’s College London’s IoPPN. It funds prevention, recovery, inclusion, and innovation across research, clinical initiatives, community programs, and staff-led projects, with flagship programmes like Building Brighter Futures (youth mental health partnerships), Living Well with Psychosis (support for severe illnesses like schizophrenia), and school-based arts/resilience schemes. Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities, CICs, community groups, and academic institutions delivering local impact via partnerships; no income thresholds apply, favoring grassroots to large entities with community ties. Grants range from £200-£2,000 (Change Makers for SLaM staff) to £300,000-£1M for multi-year projects, via thematic two-stage processes (EOI then full application on SmartSimple portal), with development grants (£5,000-£15,000) available early.
