Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales, an independent charitable foundation established in 1985 and funded by Lloyds Banking Group, drives systemic change by strengthening small, local charities tackling complex social disadvantages. Its mission centers on fostering a just, compassionate society through unrestricted multi-year grants, organizational development, and policy influence, guided by values of partnership, equity, inclusion, respect for lived experience, and community empowerment. Distinctively, it builds deep, trust-based relationships with grantees, prioritizing user-led organizations to address root causes of inequality, with a strong emphasis on racial justice via dedicated funds and Black/minoritised-led initiatives.

The foundation funds charities working directly with people facing severe challenges, including domestic abuse, homelessness, addiction, sexual exploitation, trafficking, modern slavery, offending, asylum seekers, refugees, and care leavers. Support covers core costs and capacity building rather than discrete projects, through targeted programmes like Racial Equity Grants, Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations Fund, and Local Collaborations, often excluding London-based groups to reach urban/rural England and Wales.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities or CICs with incomes of £25,000–£500,000, demonstrating strong local roots, specialization, and community-led approaches based on lived experience. Applications follow a two-stage process (Expression of Interest then full proposal) via online forms, with programme-specific deadlines—next is 4 September 2025 for the Deaf/Disabled fund—and ad hoc meetings post-assessment. Grants are fixed at £75,000 over three years (£25,000 annually), plus up to £500 accessibility support and tailored development.

It excludes capital costs, large organizations over £1 million income, non-specialist or project-only work, and areas outside England/Wales. Uniquely, it invests in small charities' resilience for enduring impact, backed by local teams, webinars, and evidence-based strategies.
