Innholders' Charitable Foundation

The Innholders' Charitable Foundation, established in 2014 as the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Innholders—a City of London Livery Company with roots in a 1514 Royal Charter—manages historic endowments to advance hospitality-rooted philanthropy. Its mission focuses on relieving financial hardship, sickness, and poor health among the elderly; advancing education for young people; and supporting the hospitality sector through workforce development and welfare. Guided by values of stewardship, public benefit, and sectoral legacy, it blends traditional alms-giving with modern grants fostering wellbeing for older adults, youth, and hospitality workers, often via long-term partnerships with organizations like Age UK, Hospitality Action, and Jamie’s Farm.

It prioritizes three themes: aged poverty relief (e.g., care services, intergenerational projects); youth education (bursaries for schools like City of London School, Christ’s Hospital, and Guildhall School of Music & Drama); and hospitality interventions (hardship aid, skills training, re-offending reduction via industry jobs, Innholders Scholarship for managers). Supported activities include welfare, mentoring, pilot projects, and social exclusion pathways, with a London/South East bias but UK-wide reach for impactful hospitality work.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities, CICs, CIOs, or CASCs with income under £1.5 million, delivering in the UK (no overseas). Unsolicited online applications are accepted rolling-basis, reviewed quarterly by the Charity Committee (March, June, December—submit weeks prior). Typical grants range £500–£5,000 for one-off projects; larger/repeat via nomination.

Exclusions cover individuals, capital/core funding, expeditions, and non-UK causes. Distinctive for its Livery-hospitality nexus, relational grant-making, and targeted synergy with elderly/youth/hospitality needs, especially London-based innovators.
