Hampshire Constabulary Welfare Fund

The Hampshire Constabulary Welfare Fund, a registered charity established in 1985, exists to provide targeted financial and material assistance to serving and retired officers, staff, pensioners, and their dependants within Hampshire Constabulary, as well as UK police personnel connected to Hampshire or injured Special Constables. Guided by values of solidarity, compassion, and inclusivity, it is managed by unpaid volunteer trustees who prioritize filling welfare gaps for policing families facing poverty, health issues, disability, or acute needs when other supports are exhausted. Its distinctive approach emphasizes confidential, needs-led interventions to bolster resilience, dignity, and stability in challenging policing environments.

The fund supports relief of financial hardship through grants, loans, welfare gifts for hospitalized members, disability equipment, bereavement aid for widows/widowers, and help with urgent living or health costs. Beneficiaries are strictly individuals—serving/retired personnel, direct dependants, and extended policing family—receiving practical aid like mobility aids or funeral expenses, with documented examples aiding crises in family or health.

Eligibility is limited to those with verifiable ties to Hampshire Constabulary (primarily Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents); no organizations, charities, or unrelated groups qualify, and there are no income thresholds. It does not accept unsolicited applications—requests come privately via trustees or internal welfare reps, assessed confidentially. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis at trustee meetings (several times yearly, with urgent handling), typically £300–£2,000 (up to £5,000 exceptionally), directly to individuals.

Distinctively, the fund excludes projects, capital funding, third-party charities, or non-police support, focusing solely on policing welfare without public deadlines or open processes, sustained by officer contributions.
