Green Hall Foundation

The Green Hall Foundation, established in 1976 by Yorkshire philanthropist Constance Vera Green and renamed in 2013 to honor Colonel Henry Robert Hall OBE, is a UK-based trust dedicated to sustainably improving lives among the sick, elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged through lasting, practical support. Rooted in a vision of tangible, measurable impact, it prioritizes capital projects and equipment that deliver permanent enhancements—such as vehicles for community transport, facility refurbishments, care home resources, and aids for disabilities—over temporary aid. Its core values emphasize efficiency, broad reach, and enduring benefits, funding health, social care, education, and community initiatives that enrich vulnerable lives, primarily in the UK but open to overseas projects delivered by UK charities.

Eligible applicants are exclusively UK-registered charities, with no regional restrictions within the UK. The May round (applications from 1 March) accepts all income sizes, while the September round (next opening 1 September 2025 at 9am) limits to those with annual income of £250,000 or less. Only one application per charity every 12 months is permitted, via online portal registration and submission during open cycles, which close rapidly after 150 applications.

Typical grants range from £1,000 to £10,000 (mostly £2,000–£5,000), decided biannually by trustees in May and November. Distinctively, it excludes salaries, core or running costs, and individual sponsorships, focusing solely on special projects where the grant covers a significant portion of a defined need with broad, cohort-wide impact. This conservative, endowment-preserving approach sets it apart as a pragmatic, non-bureaucratic capital grant-maker committed to direct, high-efficiency outcomes for those most in need.
