Greaves & Withey Foundation

The Greaves & Withey Foundation, formerly the Robin Greaves Foundation, is a family-led independent charity established by the Greaves and Withey families in memory of Robin Greaves. It funds grassroots sports clubs, schools, and specialist charities delivering amateur sport for all ages, health improvement initiatives, and inclusive programs removing barriers for those with disabilities or challenges. Beneficiaries include local voluntary organizations with proven public benefit, such as Falcon Boat Club or Oxford Harlequins RFC, focusing on facilities, equipment, and participation opportunities rather than ongoing operations.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities and community groups of modest size operating grassroots projects benefiting the priority counties (occasional neighboring areas); no strict income limits apply, but small/medium entities are preferred. Applications are unsolicited via email to Ludlow Trust Company Ltd to request a form, reviewed quarterly on a rolling basis—allow several months for decisions. Typical grants range from £2,000–£25,000 (most £5,000–£15,000), occasionally up to £50,000 for major capital.

Distinctively conservative and evidence-based, it excludes core costs, salaries, revenue funding, or non-sport projects, standing out for its family oversight, focus on strategic infrastructure with measurable social impact, and unwavering commitment to sport-driven community transformation in specific Home Counties.
