Enthuse Charitable Trust

Enthuse Charitable Trust, established in 2008 and based at the National STEM Learning Centre in York (charity number 1126965), is dedicated to advancing public education by promoting continuing professional development (CPD) for STEM teachers, technicians, and educators across the UK. Its mission addresses skills gaps in STEM education, equipping practitioners with evidence-based training to enhance teaching quality, student outcomes, and national educational standards. Guided by principles of equity, partnership with schools, government, and industry, and a focus on scalable impact, the Trust emphasises building STEM capacity in secondary schools and further education colleges, particularly for disadvantaged groups, through bursaries, residential courses, networks, and subject-specific upskilling in science, technology, engineering, and maths.

It funds targeted CPD initiatives, including individual bursaries for course fees, accommodation, resources, meals, and supply cover, as well as larger partnership grants for collaborative projects among 6-10 schools. Supported activities encompass summer schools, peer networking, leadership enrichment, and industry-linked programmes to boost teacher confidence, innovative practice, and STEM career promotion, with outcomes like raised attainment and reduced participation gaps.

Eligible applicants are exclusively state-funded schools and colleges (mainstream secondary and FE) in the UK; independent schools, non-educational charities, and organisations outside these routes are ineligible. No income thresholds apply, but applications do not accept unsolicited proposals—CPD bursaries are accessed via STEM Learning course bookings on a rolling basis with immediate approvals and payments post-completion (typically £170/day per educator), while ENTHUSE Partnership grants (£25,000 max over 2 years) require EOIs during announced rounds. The Trust excludes direct student projects, capital builds, research, core costs, and non-STEM activities, distinguishing itself through its laser focus on STEM educator capacity-building, seamless integration with STEM Learning, and track record supporting over 17,000 practitioners for systemic UK-wide impact.
