Coram's Fields Sports and Recreation

Coram's Fields Sports and Recreation, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation established in May 2021, builds on nearly a century of the historic Coram’s Fields legacy in central London to deliver affordable, inclusive sports and play facilities in Camden and surrounding areas. Its core mission is to promote recreation, welfare, education, and amateur sport for disadvantaged children, young people, and families facing challenges like poverty, disability, ill-health, or social exclusion, while fostering community participation and cohesion. Rooted in values of safeguarding, equity, and barrier-free access—such as free play for under-19s and subsidised slots for 20-25-year-olds—it strategically manages pitches at the Coram’s Fields site, organises youth leagues, school events, and tournaments, and issues grants to aligned charities.

Funding prioritises grassroots sports, play-based interventions, physical/mental health, and developmental activities that enhance life chances for Camden's vulnerable children, youth, and families, including those with disabilities or from low-income backgrounds. Supported initiatives include facility maintenance, capital enhancements, service delivery, and partnerships like those with London Youth, emphasising inclusion, community events, and amateur sport to improve conditions of life.

Eligible applicants are strictly UK-registered charities delivering front-line services in Camden, with a preference for small-to-medium local organisations tied to Coram’s Fields; unsolicited applications are not accepted—grants go to trustee-selected partners. Typical awards range from £50,000 to £200,000 for projects or facilities, awarded adhoc at trustee meetings without fixed deadlines. It excludes core/unrestricted funding, non-aligned activities, or projects outside Camden/London focus, distinguishing itself through site-integrated, mixed-revenue model (adult fees subsidising youth access) and unwavering commitment to historic child welfare via recreation.
