Clocktower Foundation

The Clocktower Foundation is a specialist grant-making charity, established in its modern form in December 2014 as a company limited by guarantee, with roots tracing back to the 1973 HQ Garrison Clocktower Fund. Its core mission is to promote the efficiency of the Armed Forces, particularly HQ Hereford Garrison in Herefordshire, by supporting serving and retired personnel and their families through education, welfare, health initiatives, and resettlement programmes. Guided by values of service, practical rehabilitation, holistic wellbeing, and community cohesion, it adopts a strategic, needs-led approach, leveraging trustee expertise and Regimental connections for high-impact interventions that enhance military readiness and civilian transitions.

It funds targeted activities such as educational bursaries, employment transition support, emotional and practical services, health projects, and community-building efforts exclusively for the HQ Hereford Garrison Regiment community, including direct aid to individuals and organisational initiatives that foster resilience and long-term empowerment.

Eligibility is highly specific: applicants must be directly connected to HQ Hereford Garrison and Herefordshire communities, with a preference for small to medium-sized organisations or initiatives aligned with Regimental needs; no income thresholds are set, but general charities outside this scope are ineligible. Applications are invite-only, with no public deadlines, forms, or open calls—prospects are identified via Regimental networks and consulted with military stakeholders. Trustees meet regularly to approve modest, tailored grants varying by need, without published ranges.

Distinctively, the Foundation excludes broader Armed Forces or national causes, standing apart as a niche, Regiment-focused funder committed to its defined beneficiary group's enduring welfare rather than generalist military philanthropy.
