City Health Care Partnership Foundation

City Health Care Partnership Foundation, established in 2013 by City Health Care Partnership CIC, is a grant-making charity dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, Knowsley, St Helens, and parts of Merseyside. Governed by volunteer trustees and funded mainly by its parent NHS-aligned social enterprise, it embodies core values of service, excellence, equality, inclusion, creativity, and partnership. Its mission focuses on tackling health inequalities through grassroots investments that enhance quality of life, prioritizing local, community-led initiatives over large-scale projects.

The Foundation funds small-scale projects improving physical, mental, or social wellbeing, including physical activity programs, social inclusion, mental health support, initiatives for older people, children and youth, disabled individuals, poverty alleviation, education, and community development. It supports voluntary and community groups delivering activities like befriending services, healthy eating projects, youth activities, and disability access, with over £224,000 awarded to more than 217 groups, favoring volunteer-led efforts with clear local impact.

Eligible applicants are small, grassroots voluntary and community groups serving the specified areas—no strict income limits, but preference for those without substantial reserves. It accepts unsolicited applications via email using a downloadable form, with three annual rounds (deadlines: 1 March, 1 July, 1 November at 5pm); next is 1 March 2026. Typical grants range from £500 to £2,500, covering project costs, sessional staff, equipment, consumables, or volunteer expenses.

Exclusions include core funding, ongoing salaries, and large capital/building works. Distinctively, it also backs CHCP staff in external fundraising, leveraging its public health expertise to catalyze high-impact, holistic wellbeing outcomes in embedded communities.
