Austin Bailey Foundation

The Austin Bailey Foundation, established in 1984 by Keith Cyril Austin Bailey—a Swansea native shaped by his Christian upbringing and World War II experiences as a prisoner of war—is a family-led charitable trust dedicated to relieving poverty, advancing the Christian faith, and aiding those in need or adversity. Rooted in the founder's gratitude and values of compassion and service, it prioritises meaningful social impact through consistent, stewardship-focused giving, with trustees meeting multiple times yearly to uphold its legacy.

It funds three core areas: around 50% supports Swansea-based charities tackling poverty and community welfare (e.g., food banks, homelessness services); 25% aids local churches and chapels for faith-based outreach, repairs, and community work; and 25% backs UK-registered charities delivering projects in developing countries, especially those with Swansea connections or strong accountability. Supported activities include project funding, core costs, capital items, relief for acute needs, and recurring flagship initiatives benefiting vulnerable people, faith communities, and those facing hardship locally or abroad.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities, preferably small to medium-sized and community-based, with a strict Swansea base for local/church grants or demonstrable local ties for international work; no formal income limits apply, but grassroots organisations are favoured. Typical grants range from £500 to £5,000 (most £1,000–£3,000), awarded via downloadable forms emailed by the annual deadline of 30 November 2025, with decisions post-January trustee meetings.

It excludes routine fundraising, general appeals, indirect activities, and large national charities without Swansea links. Distinctive for its unwavering fidelity to the founder's Swansea-centric, Christian-inspired vision, transparent processes, and balanced local-international portfolio ensuring tangible outcomes.
